What is cabotage?
Cabotage is an effective way to optimize the delivery process, consisting in the commercial transport of cargo within the same country, I am registered in another country. As part of our cabotage services, we provide all transport solutions in accordance with Regulation (EC) No. 1072/2009 of the European Parliament and of the Council.
Who can receive from cabotage?
Cabotage can be carried out by any carrier with a registered business in one of the EU or EFTA countries and a transport license for international transport. Our offer includes both large and small cabotage transports with a GVM value below 3.5 tons.
Elements of cabotage transport with ABX Solution:
- Cabotage can be started after partial or broken unloading of public goods at the destination in the recipient’s country.
- Delivery within cabotage is organized with the same vehicle that the carrier uses to cross the border.
- We carry out cabotage based on the best safety and punctuality standards.
Cabotage time frame and quantity:
- The last delivery within cabotage must be made within 7 days of the end of unloading of the international transport.
- The carrier may carry out 3 deliveries of goods within 7 days of the first unloading in the case of transport only within the borders of the horse country.

Changes in opinion due to the mobility package
As part of the progress of the mobility package, from 2022 we are introducing changes regarding cabotage transport. Putting cabotage, a vehicle subject to the so-called freezing (cooling off) for a period of 4 days, which is aimed at balancing competition and optimizing the market.
